                          School Policies 

          Punctuality

Please arrive a bit early to get settled in, as the teacher will begin on time. Late arrivals will be accepted occasionally but frequent lateness may result in your being asked to move to another class which better suits your schedule. Please move out into the common areas promptly once the lesson is over to make way for the next class. There will be no additional time at the end of a lesson, as other students may be waiting. 

 

Attendance

Regular attendance is extremely important for success. Notification of inability to attend a lesson is courtesy to the teacher but does not excuse tuition payment. If you need to change to another day, we will accommodate you as best we can as space allows. Those private students who come every two weeks can not be guaranteed the best time slots.

 

Missed Lessons

If you are a class student and are going to miss a class, we will mail or fax your assignment to your home. Please call your teacher and let her know that you are going to miss a class (leave a  message if you can not reach your teacher).

No refunds will be made for missed lessons. If you miss a class, you still pay for it as the material is purposely repeated throughout the course. Often, missing classes for this reason will only put your child further behind, and more discouraged. If you decide to make-up the lesson privately you will be charged $10 for that lesson in addition to the missed lesson as the teacher's time must be paid for both classes. This may be arranged with the teacher and should in no way be considered an automatic service. You can have a make-up group lesson only if we have the same class during the week.

     We cancel lessons in the event of heavy snow and bad roads. You will be given a courtesy call by your teacher if we are closed. Your payment for those missed lessons will go over to the next month. In case of sudden change to family status or serious illness every attempt will be made to accommodate the student's needs.

   If only one child attends group class, the lesson will be 30 minutes. If two children attend 55-min class, the lesson will be 45 minutes.

 Private students

No refund will be given for the missed lesson. If you do not give me notice that you will miss a class we will not schedule make-up lesson and we do not promise more than one make-up lesson per quarter and do not carry them over past a few months or from quarter to quarter. One make-up lesson per quarter will be given under the following circumstances: in case of illness, notice must be given no later than 12 noon of lesson day: in case of heavy snow and bad roads, notice must be given no later than 4 hours in advance: in case of schedule conflict, notice must be given no later than 24 hours in advance of lesson day. If there is less than 24-hour notice, no make-up lesson will be scheduled.

 

Holidays, School break, Summer   Break 

Semesters are beginning mid September and  January. Most Harmony Road classes will meet through the end of June. Please plan ahead so that you can attend all of your classes.  We will have lessons on Fall break, Spring break and Winter break. No lessons in July and August for group students unless everyone in the class wants to continue through the summer.   

On most major holidays there is no class. 

*There will be no lessons on Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas to New Years break (Dec.23-Jan 2), Labor Day and Memorial Day.

Private students

Private students require having lessons on summer break (eight 30-min lessons or six 45-min lessons, or 4 one-hour lessons).You can also schedule additional lessons during the school year or you can have 35 minute (or longer) lesson during school year and only 2 lesson in summer. Most private students continue lessons throughout the summer months. Therefore, if you plan to take off the summer semester, you may lose your (fall) time slot.

 

Teacher Cancellations

Missed lessons due to illness or vacation will be made-up. Your lesson will be re-scheduled.

 

Materials

The instructor will at times purchase materials for students. Materials for Harmony Road students will be purchased from Portland . This fee is paid upon registering your child, to reserve your place in a class. Shipping and handling fee are included in the cost of materials ($20 for every semester). You can option to order either tape, or CD ($4.00 more for the CD). 

 

Withdrawal  

Once a student starts lessons, it's expected that they continue until the end of the school year. Fifteen days prior notice is required for withdrawal from a class. Payment for that month is due. Only if you paid for the whole school year and you would like to withdraw from the class  sooner, refunds will be given to you. If you decide to take a semester off, you have to pay registration fees again to keep your place. 

 

Tuition and Fees

·  We accept checks and cash.                                                      

·  Class spaces are reserved as applications. If a class is filled, or we can’t give you the lessons within the time range that you have given us on the schedule sheet, you will be notified and your check will be refunded.          

· Tuition is payable by month or by half a semester and due on the first lesson of the month.                                                                                      

 ·  It is most cost effective to make an annual payment, which is discounted 5% and is due Sept. 20.                                                                          

·  If payment is not received before 25th we require $15 late fee.            

·  We require $15 for returned  checks.                                                                    

·  Tuitions for the lessons does not including enrolment fees and materials (books and tapes).                 

 ·We reserve the right to suspend students for nonpayment of tuition.
